Write to your elected officials
For Pennsylvania residents. A letter from a constituent asks your U.S. senators and representative to contact ICE’s Philadelphia Field Office about Valentina’s case, keep her in Pennsylvania, and support her release on bond.
Before you write
- Write only to your own senators and representative. Offices mostly respond to their own constituents.
- Make a separate letter for each official, and keep each to one page.
- Only write what you know firsthand, and don’t add personal details about Valentina beyond what’s already in the template.
The letter
Fill in everything in [brackets]. The Google Docs button makes your own copy of this version to edit.

Re: Valentina Perez Tabares, detained by ICE on October 11, 2026
Dear [Senator / Representative] [last name]:
My name is [full name], and I am a constituent from [town, ZIP]. I am writing to ask for your office’s help with the case of Valentina Perez Tabares, a Lehigh Valley resident who was detained by ICE on October 11, 2026, at Lehigh Valley International Airport. She is being held in Pennsylvania.
Valentina came to the United States legally in 2021 on a J-1 visa to work as an au pair for a Lehigh Valley family. She has had an immigration case pending since 2022 and holds a valid work permit. She works full time, goes to school, and pays taxes.
[Optional: one or two sentences on how you know Valentina, if you do. For example: She cared for my children for two years, and I trusted her completely.]
I am asking your office to contact ICE’s Philadelphia Field Office about her case, to ask that she not be transferred out of Pennsylvania, and to support her release on bond while her case continues. Her attorney can coordinate a signed privacy release for casework.
Please let me know which member of your staff is handling this. I can be reached at [phone] or [email]. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
